4. Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP) -Livelihood Support

 

The ICDP is a two & half years' (2008-2010) project which is funded by the European Union. The project is jointly implemented by four partner organizations (Naulo Ghumti Nepal as the principal applicant, AHTCS, GONESA and Nepal Red Cross Society Kaski) taking responsibilities in different components of the community development. The responsibility of AHTCS is to implement the livelihood support part of the project by delivering livestock and agriculture related training courses and support services to the beneficiaries. The project is implemented in 27 VDCs of 9 districts in western development region of Nepal.

Project objective (livelihood support part)

To upgrade the economic status of the poor and marginalized vulnerable community people by creating various livelihood improvement opportunities as well as income generation through imparting them  technical knowledge, skills and introducing improved technology related to agriculture, animal health and husbandry improvement and forestry in order to develop the existing production and productivity significantly by mobilizing  locally available resources.

Main areas of activities

Ø      Provide training in farm production, processing and local skill enhancement

Ø      Support on Local Resource Person Development (VAHW training)

Ø      Provide support in establishing nursery, fodder bank and fish ponds

Ø      Distribution of goat for income generation support

Ø      Distribution of breeding bull/bucks

Ø      Support on micro-enterprise development

Ø      Establishment of milk collection centers
