Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS) is a non-profit, service-driven, non-governmental organization established in 2000 with the goal of enhancing the living conditions of marginalized communities. It works in collaboration with both national and international partners. The primary objective of AHTCS is to improve animal health, promote effective livestock production and management, and ensure animal welfare throughout Nepal.

Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS) traces its origins to the Animal Health Improvement Program (AHIP), established in 1981 under the Rural Development Centre (RDC) with support from the United Mission to Nepal to address the challenges faced by rural livestock farmers. Officially registered with the District Administration Office, Kaski, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, AHTCS has evolved into one of Nepal’s pioneering non-governmental organizations dedicated to advancing animal health and welfare, strengthening livestock development, promoting community-based veterinary services, and advancing the One Health approach.

AHTCS serves its focus communities by implementing programs in animal health, livestock husbandry, and equine welfare. It also engages in need-based program diversification, particularly those that integrate livestock and agricultural practices to support livelihood development. The AHTCS contributing to sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry, livelihood promotion, and community development. In alignment with the Department of Livestock Services’ policy on producing Village Animal Health Workers (VAHWs), AHTCS partners with provincial governments Ministry of Agriculture and Land Management to deliver training and technical support.
